A. Lowers seizure threshold

· Contraindicated in patients with:

· Seizure disorder

· History of anorexia, bulimia

· Incidence of seizures (dose dependent):

· For SR, <300mg/d: 0.1%

>400mg/d: 0.4%

· For IR, 300-450: 0.4%

B. Dosing guidelines for SR

· Maximum daily dose is 400mg.

· Should be given bid.

· No single dose above 200mg.

C. Side Effects

· CNS:agitation, anxiety, insomnia, migraine ,vertigo, tremor.

· Endocrinologic: Weight loss

· Gastrointestinal: Nausea

· CV: palpitations, elevaton of BP.
